Patrick Powers

Patrick Powers has been active in Asia for 20 years, 18 of which have been spent in the PRC, Vietnam, Singapore, and Taiwan. He began his career in the Pipeline and Petroleum Group at Bechtel, Inc. and held successive management positions at Island Creek of China Coal Ltd (Occidental Petroleum), SSM Coal BV, SHV Holdings, and Tait Asia Ltd. (Vietnam).

In his current position as Director of China Operations for the US-China Business Council, Mr. Powers is responsible for business advocacy and advisory services on behalf of American businesses operating in the PRC. His commercial background is multi-sectoral, including coal, petroleum, LPG, large scale retailing, and consumer goods warehousing and distribution.

He has a BA from San Diego State University and has pursued advanced language and professional development courses At UC Berkeley, National Taiwan Normal University, and Singapore Institute of Management.
