Rod Stowe is currently the Deputy Commissioner in the Office of Fair Trading within the New South Wales Department of Commerce in Australia. The Office of Fair Trading is New South Wales’ pre-eminent consumer protection agency and is responsible for maintaining a fair marketplace by safeguarding consumer rights and advising business on fair and ethical practice.

In a public sector career spanning more than 30 years, Rod has gained wide experience in government with postings in portfolios covering environmental protection, education and local government. For the last 18 years, he has worked in the Fair Trading portfolio where he has had a variety of roles including Director of Customer Services and Assistant Commissioner for Policy and Strategy.

As Deputy Commissioner, Rod is responsible for overseeing the public policy and regulatory review functions within the Office of Fair Trading. He also directs the design and implementation of the Office’s community education and information programs.
